Milieu is hiring Community Support Workers for Part-Time and Casual positions in West Kelowna

Position:

We are seeking permanent employees who are committed to developing trusting relationships with adults. Our employees assist adults in fostering their life skills and/or access to community resources. All employees will be provided with paid training for positive behavior support and MANDT.

This is a unique opportunity for you to apply your knowledge and utilize your skills to improve the quality of life of the individuals. This is a unionized position with the BCGEU grid 10. The pay range we are offering is $25.95 - $29.76 with benefit eligibility and MPP for any permanent position of 20+ hours.

Job summary:

Community Support Worker (CSW) provides support to adults with developmental disabilities in a residential setting. CSW support adults with daily life skills development; they ensure that the individuals’ physical needs are met by performing duties such as assisting with personal hygiene, preparing meals, and administering medication as required in accordance with established guidelines, procedures and instructions. In addition, CSW will apply their knowledge from positive behavior support training to provide stabilization and consistent guidance for the individuals.

Education and Qualifications

· A diploma in human/ social services or a related discipline or an acceptable combination of education and experience.

· A minimum of one year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and/or physical/medical/behavioral support needs or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

· Knowledgeable of and encourages each person served to develop and expand his/her methods of communication

· Demonstrated ability to facilitate relationships and connections wherein persons served expand their personal support networks and find new and meaningful relationships.

· Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook

· Negative T.B test Clearance

· Food Safe Certification where required

· Criminal Record Check for Children and Vulnerable Adults (Provincial) - Clearance

· Clear Health Certificate

· Valid First Aid and CPR certification

· Class 5 or where required class 4 unrestricted driver’s license

· Must have own vehicle with business insurance and a minimum requirement of 3 million liability (Applicable to one to one support workers)

· Clear and Current Driver’s Abstract.

· Mandt Certification (Available training upon successful application)
